South Korea’s 11th Fighter Wing (11th FW) is undergoing a two-week Operational Readiness Inspection (ORI) to assess its peacetime and wartime operational capabilities.
The 11th FW announced on Thursday, “We are undergoing the 2024 ORI conducted by the Air Force Operations Command from November 18 to 29. We are proving our flawless readiness posture through realistic, simultaneous day-and-night field maneuvers.”
The ORI is designed to thoroughly evaluate the wing’s combat readiness and personnel’s operational proficiency. It encompasses Command Post Exercises (CPX) and Field Training Exercises (FTX) across various domains.
During the ORI, the 11th FW is being assessed on its wartime air operations capabilities through “wartime sortie exercises ” and its ability to handle complex crises such as aircraft decontamination, disaster control, and counterterrorism through FTX drills.
Notably, the 11th FW is demonstrating an around-the-clock military readiness posture. In addition to air operations conducted day and night, the unit showcased its base defense capabilities in a comprehensive nighttime base defense drill. This included step-by-step defensive measures and situational reporting in response to simulated infiltration attempts by enemy special operations forces.
Brigadier General Koo Sang Mo, Commander of the 11th Fighter Wing, emphasized, “The ORI is an opportunity for our unit to validate the mission execution capabilities we have built through rigorous and realistic training, ensuring our perfect combat readiness posture. We will remain vigilant with a One Team spirit, prepared to counter any threat posed by our adversaries.”
