The Invincible Lightning Battalion of the Decisive Brigade under the South Korea Army’s 11th Maneuver Division conducted a 9-night, 10-day combined arms live-fire training exercise at the Comprehensive Training Center in Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Province, from November 20 to 29.

The training involved more than 300 personnel, including Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Song Jin Oh, and over 70 pieces of equipment.

The battalion focused on mastering realistic combat firing techniques, emphasizing reflexive shooting and fire support capabilities tailored to each assigned weapon system.

After completing individual weapon firing exercises, a full-scale combined arms live-fire exercise took place on November 27. This exercise followed a scenario in which forces advanced, overcoming enemy defenses and obstacle zones to annihilate targets. K2 tanks, K21 infantry fighting vehicles, K600 obstacle-breaching tanks, Biho complex anti-aircraft systems, and reconnaissance drones were deployed for concentrated fire.

The battalion successfully demonstrated integrated combat execution by breaking through enemy defensive zones and eliminating enemy forces. To further enhance practical combat capabilities, they also conducted training with common firearms, such as the Panzerfaust 3 (PZF-III) and K201 grenade launchers.

In preparation for this training, the battalion spent a month conducting specialty training sessions, inspecting major equipment, and performing technical evaluations to improve operational skills. They also ensured safety to maximize the training’s effectiveness.

Lieutenant Colonel Song stated, “Through this combined arms live-fire training, we have proven the combat capabilities befitting the reputation of an elite maneuver division with an offensive spirit. We have built confidence in defeating any adversary by maintaining combat readiness rooted in fundamentals.”
