The ROK Marine Corps Logistics Group’s 1st Logistics Battalion and the U.S. 3rd Marine Logistics Group (3d-MLG) are conducting a joint logistics combat unit training exercise in Pohang and Paju, South Korea, as part of the KMEP (Korea Marine Exercise Program).

The training began on March 10 and runs through Thursday. It allows ROK and U.S. Marines to assess their logistical support capabilities for different equipment and enhance their mission performance through functional skill exchanges.

Approximately 200 ROK and U.S. Marines and 28 vehicles from nine different equipment categories, including medium- and heavy-duty tactical vehicles, fuel tankers, recovery vehicles, and trailers, are participating in the exercise. The joint training program consists of transport operations between Pohang and Paju, recovery and evacuation exercises, weapons and vehicle maintenance training, and tactical training to develop mission-specific skills.

In particular, the joint tactical training phase focuses on strengthening field logistics support capabilities in supply, transportation, and maintenance by implementing storage and camouflage installation using Quadcon field container storage, tactical vehicle convoys, operation of field maintenance collection points, and battlefield emergency repairs in engagement zones. The ROK and U.S. Marines will continue obstacle clearance exercises and team-building training to reinforce their strong alliance and camaraderie.

Lieutenant Colonel Im Seong Yun, commander of the 1st Logistics Battalion, stated, “This training allows us to share real combat experience and validate the effectiveness of our logistical support capabilities. By maintaining the highest level of logistical readiness, we will contribute to ensuring victory based on the strong ROK-U.S. combined defense posture.”
