Seventy-five military experts have graduated, poised to lead South Korea’s future aerospace forces. The South Korean Air Force Academy hosted the 2024 Advanced Command and Staff Course (CSC) Graduation Ceremony last Friday at the Chungmugwan Small Auditorium in Jaun Base, Daejeon, presided over by Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff Park Ki Wan (Lieutenant General).

The 75 student officers who began the CSC program on January 2 completed the 49-week course to emerge as military experts. Among the graduates were 11 foreign military officers from 11 countries, including the United States, Thailand, Iraq, and Japan.

The ceremony was attended by the families of the student officers, military attachés from the countries of the foreign officers, and their sponsors. Deputy Chief of Staff Park remarked, “Through this education, the student officers have cultivated military knowledge and skills to meet the demands of a rapidly changing security environment. I urge you to fulfill your duties with excellence while continuing to learn about cutting-edge technologies and future battlefields to play a pivotal role in building a strong, advanced Air Force that works with the people.”

The student officers studied various subjects, including strategy, aerospace studies, operations, force development, and command and management, to develop the core competencies required to lead future aerospace forces. They also joined training with Army, Navy, and Marine Corps officers to enhance interoperability.

Major Choi Chang Eun received the Prime Minister’s Award given to the top graduates. Majors Lee Sang Beom and Park Geun Bae received the Minister of National Defense Award and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Award, respectively.

Major Choi stated, “During the CSC course, I enhanced my capabilities as a military expert through experiences such as developing aerospace strategies, mastering theater operations procedures, and strengthening command and control abilities. Building on my growth over the past year, I will dedicate myself to advancing the Air Force and defending our nation.”
