The ROK Marine Corps 2nd Division Tank Battalion has strengthened the leadership capabilities of its officers through a structured training program. On March 28, the division announced, “From March 17 to 27, we successfully conducted the 25-1 Tank Battalion Instructor Training at the garrison and the tank multi-purpose simulator training ground.”

Led by the tank battalion’s top instructors selected last year, the training consisted of theoretical education, basic practical exercises, day and night target detection drills, and comprehensive hands-on training and evaluations.

Participating officers enhanced their understanding of tank operation concepts and acquired the relevant techniques and procedures through mandatory tasks in subjects such as driving, weapons, and equipment studies. They also improved their ability to carry out mission tasks by learning the procedures for designating, identifying, tracking, and engaging 15 types of targets, including fixed, mobile, and randomly assigned ones.

In addition, they reinforced the qualities required of an instructor through practical exercises and evaluations on response procedures for situations such as chemical weapon drops, obstacle navigation, and unexploded ordnance disposal.

The division plans to grant instructor certification to trainees recognized as top or outstanding in each subject and deploy them in crew group training programs managed by the tank battalion to improve service members’ mission performance capabilities.

Lieutenant Colonel Lee Min Woo, commander of the tank battalion, stated, “We have maximized the combat capability and leadership of our officers and boosted their confidence in performing missions,” and added, “Through practical, mission-oriented training, we will establish a Marine Corps that earns the trust of the people.”
