South Korean 6th Marine Brigade

The South Korean Marine Corps 6th Brigade Engineer Company conducted three days of company-level tactical training in the Baengnyeong Island area from October 29 to 31.

The training included various engineering and combat equipment, such as armored combat dozers, excavators, and mine detectors.

The exercise began with troop and equipment mobilization, followed by mission-critical tasks like establishing bypass routes, conducting emergency damage recovery, deploying scattered minefields, detecting obstacles, and performing live demolitions.

In particular, live demolition training using KM180 road crater explosion kits and anti-tank mines allowed soldiers to practice the procedures for preparing ammunition, transporting explosives, assembling detonation circuits, and igniting explosives, thereby enhancing their mission execution capabilities. The unit prepared safety checklists before, during, and after demolition training and developed contingency plans in case of unexploded ordnance.

Captain Kim Seung Wan, the Engineering Company Commander, stated, “Through tactical training like live demolitions, soldiers could directly observe and understand the power of explosives, enhancing their realistic combat awareness. We will continue to provide various education and training programs to develop combat experts capable of winning against the enemy.”
