The South Korean Navy Cruise Training Task Group arrived in Auckland, New Zealand, as its seventh port of call. This marks the group’s 15th visit to New Zealand.

On November 25, the first day of their arrival, the Cruise Training Task Group held a welcoming ceremony aboard the Hansando ship, attended by Kim Chang Sik, South Korean Ambassador to New Zealand, Kim Hong Ki, Consul General in Auckland, members of the Korean community, and the New Zealand Navy. The following day, they participated in a welcoming event hosted by Garin Golding, Chief of the Royal New Zealand Navy.

In New Zealand, a participant in the Korean War, the Cruise Training Task Group conveyed gratitude and appreciation to veterans. Cadets and other task group members laid wreaths and paid respects at the Korean War Memorial in Auckland. They also invited local veterans to a reception aboard the ship.

The cruise training is a long-distance voyage designed to develop ship adaptation and mission execution capabilities for fourth-year Naval Academy cadets before commissioning as Navy and Marine Corps officers.

On November 28, after completing their schedule in New Zealand, the Cruise Training Task Group departed for its next port of call, Sydney, Australia.
