The 3rd Fleet conducted a task force-level maneuvering exercise from November 5 to 8 in the northwestern waters off Jeju Island, ahead of Navy Foundation Day (November 11).

The exercise was designed to reinforce the Navy’s readiness and resolve to respond swiftly and decisively to any provocations, particularly in light of ongoing security threats from North Korea.

The exercise included over ten naval vessels, including destroyers, frigates, guided-missile patrol boats, and aircraft. These forces conducted various operations tailored to potential scenarios of surface, underwater, and aerial provocations. The drills included anti-submarine warfare, anti-ship firing drills, tactical maneuvers, maritime interdiction, and damage control exercises, all designed to meet operational environment requirements and mission objectives in their designated areas of responsibility.

Additionally, the fleet strengthened its combat readiness with ship-based response exercises simulating unmanned aerial vehicle infiltration over the sea.

Commander Im Hyun Sik of the ROKS Gyeongnam (Captain) stated, “Every crew” member approached the training with a commitment to securely guard the southern waters, a vital lifeline for South Korea. With unwavering mental preparedness, we will establish combat readiness to meet our given mission and engage any enemy without hesitation.”
