South Korea’s 39th Fighter Wing announced on Tuesday that its 159th Fighter Squadron had achieved a milestone of 130,000 accident-free flight hours. The 159th Squadron operated F-4 aircraft from April 1990 to March 1998 and has since been operating newly introduced KF-16 aircraft.

The squadron explained that this achievement resulted from various practical efforts, including proactive safety management focused on the field and hosting emergency response competitions simulating adverse weather conditions.

The 159th Fighter Squadron proudly stated, “Since introducing the KF-16, we have flawlessly and safely carried out a variety of real-world missions, including emergency deployments.”

Lieutenant Colonel Lee Sang Won, commander of the 159th Squadron, commented, “This accomplishment is the result of all unit members dedicating themselves wholeheartedly to fulfilling our primary mission. Under our squadron’s slogan, ‘If caught! You die!’ e will continue to deter war during peacetime and respond decisively to enemy provocations.”
