On Tuesday, Admiral Hwang Sun Woo, the South Korean Naval Operations Commander, visited the 1st Fleet and Air Command to inspect military readiness and encourage troops committed to their missions.

Admiral Hwang first visited the 1st Fleet’s command-and-control center, where he was briefed on recent enemy activities in the forward waters of the East Sea and anticipated provocation patterns. He reinforced an impenetrable maritime vigilance posture and overwhelming combat readiness.

He then supervised fleet situational response training based on hypothetical scenarios of complex enemy provocations. Admiral Hwang analyzed areas for improvement identified during the training and instructed that these be incorporated into operational plans.

Following this, he moved to the Air Command to assess the current state of maritime aviation operations. He emphasized the need to maintain operational discipline and ensure maritime aviation forces are prepared to respond immediately to any situation at any time.

Admiral Hwang stated, “Regardless of the circumstances, the military’s mission to defend the nation remains steadfast. From the commanders to the seamen, we must focus our operational mindset solely on combat duties and establish the highest level of military readiness to defend the nation and protect the lives and property of the people.”
