South Korea’s 5th Armored Brigade Showcases Dominance in Combined Arms Training

BEMIL Views

The deafening roar of the 105mm tank cannon, the rotor sound of helicopters slicing through the sky, and the synchronized breaths of soldiers beyond the white puffs of condensation — this was the scene at the Army 5th Armored Brigade’s combined arms live-fire training conducted on Thursday at the Seungjin Advanced Training Center in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province.

The Army 5th Armored Brigade, symbolizing the strong force protecting the central-western front, prides itself as one of the Army’s elite units. Its nickname, Iron Wind, conveys the idea of a storm-like, relentless charge.

The armored units, led by K1E1 tanks, dominated the battlefield with pinpoint 100% shooting accuracy, decisively seizing control. In the air, 500MD attack helicopters provided fire support, while on the ground, the Biho complex self-propelled anti-aircraft guns added to the firepower. Barrier-breaking tanks and K200A1 armored vehicles paved the way for the armored units’ swift advance.

The combined arms forces demonstrated overwhelming combat power through impeccable coordination. The following photos capture the thunderous advance observed during the training.
