The Marine Corps Logistics Battalion’s Transport Company conducted a company-level tactical exercise in Pohang and Baengnyeong Island from February 13 to 21, solidifying its transport support readiness. The training focused on improving mission execution skills for long-distance transport support during both wartime and peacetime operations.
A key objective of the exercise was to enhance long-distance transport capabilities in conjunction with regular supply deliveries to the northwestern islands. The training involved company-level personnel and six 11.5-ton wing-body trucks. Transport operators carried out a mission-based transport operation from Pohang to Hwaseong and Baengnyeong Island, further developing their operational proficiency.
The exercise covered many mission-oriented scenarios, including wartime transition operations such as unit expansion and establishment, prepositioned and stockpiled materials distribution, and mobilization vehicle inspections. It also included chemical, biological, and radiological (CBR) warfare preparedness, focusing on individual and base protection measures. Additionally, the training emphasized transport operations, including tactical convoy movements and response drills, as well as supply transport and return logistics, covering cargo loading, securing, and integrating transport onto ships.
During the supply transport exercise, personnel formulated detailed cargo loading plans based on vehicle types, ensuring safe cargo management and reinforcing the importance of transport support missions.
Unlike last year’s training, this exercise introduced enemy special operations attacks during highway transport missions coordinated with higher command units. Personnel conducted response drills in parallel, strengthening their ability to handle unexpected threats.
Captain Lee Tae Gyu, the company commander, stated, “Through this long-distance transport exercise to designated locations, our company members have gained increased confidence and a sense of responsibility in transport support. With pride in our role of supporting all Marine Corps units, we will continue striving for flawless transport operations.”
