The Eagle Brigade of South Korea’s 32nd Infantry Division conducted a joint integrated defense exercise on Thursday in the Daecheon Port area of South Chungcheong Province to prepare for potential enemy maritime infiltration.

The training combined a command post exercise and field training exercise (FTX) to establish a robust integrated defense posture in the event of a crisis in the Daejeon, South Chungcheong, and Sejong regions. More than 300 personnel participated in the exercise, including troops from the brigade, the Navy’s 2nd Fleet, the division’s air defense battalion, and the Korea Coast Guard. The K806 wheeled armored vehicle and the portable surface-to-air missile “Chun-goong” were also deployed.

The scenario simulated an enemy special operations unit attempting to infiltrate the coastline during wartime. Upon detecting the infiltrating enemy, the troops maintained surveillance and tracking, then eliminated the target using concentrated firepower.

Colonel Han Tae Soo, commander of the brigade, stated, “This exercise helped enhance our capability to eliminate enemies attempting surprise amphibious landings during wartime,” adding, “We will continue to devote ourselves to our military duties so that the public can focus on their daily lives with peace of mind.”
