The 56th Infantry Division announced it had conducted rapid rope descent training using UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters to strengthen capabilities for urban aerial mobility operations. The exercise, held on Friday, involved approximately 60 soldiers from the division’s mobile company, a unit specialized in initial response and counter-terrorism missions.

The division emphasized the training’s objective to enhance operational readiness, ensuring troops can swiftly and accurately reach target locations in urban environments during emergencies. The exercise was designed to build proficiency for mission performance tailored explicitly to urban settings.

The training began with instruction on helicopter exit techniques and rope-handling skills for personnel new to these procedures. Soldiers then moved on to ground-based model tower training to master descent techniques. The division incorporated risk assessment training to prevent safety incidents, adjusting instruction to each soldier’s skill level for optimal safety and effectiveness.

Captain Yu Dong-yong, commander of the mobile company, noted, “This training allowed us to develop rapid response capabilities essential for operational scenarios in downtown Seoul.” He added, “We remain committed to ensuring Seoul’s defense through realistic, scenario-based training.”
