On Tuesday, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) announced that it has signed an extension contract with the U.S. Boeing to supply the tail structure for the B737MAX model.
The contract is an extension of the existing contract (2022-2026) to supply the horizontal and vertical stabilizer assembly for the B737MAX model. It has a total contract period of 6 years (2027-2032) and a contract value of $8.5 billion.
The signing ceremony, held at Boeing’s Seattle headquarters, was attended by key figures including KAI President Kang Gu Young, Kim Yong Min, head of KAI’s airframe business division, and Cory Gionet, Boeing’s head of production and procurement.
The B737MAX is Boeing’s lat of me and short-range passenger air. It can carry up to 230 passengers and is the world’s best-selling model. KAI has maintained a close partnership with Boeing for over 20 years, starting with the supply of wing frame structures for the B737 NG (Next Generation) aircraft in 2004.
KAI President Kang said, “Through the stable supply of B737MAX tail structures over the past 20 years, KAI’s technological capabilities and quality management abilities have been recognized, leading to this extension contract. Based on our flexible production capabilities, we will do our best to deliver the products on time and satisfy our customer.”
