Soldiers from the South Korean Army’s 12th Infantry Division Tank Battalion have demonstrated their commitment to community service by spreading warmth to their local community.
On Monday, the battalion donated 250 blood donation certificates that its members voluntarily collected to the Korean Red Cross Gangwon Blood Center. In response, the Gangwon Blood Center presented the battalion with a certificate of appreciation. The donated certificates will help leukemia patients who require extensive blood transfusions during cancer treatment. In addition to their donation, the soldiers also participated in blood donations, adding further meaning to their efforts as members of the nation’s military.
The Tank Battalion has been consistently donating blood donation certificates since 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic caused critical blood supply shortages. Over the past four years, the battalion has donated over 1,000 blood donation certificates, and 13 soldiers have been recognized with blood donation achievement awards.
Lieutenant Colonel Heo Gyu Ho, commander of the Tank Battalion, stated, “I am delighted that we could gather the heartfelt efforts of all our soldiers at the end of the year to help leukemia patients. We will continue to fulfill our duties as soldiers while contributing to the nation and the public through volunteer work and acts of sharing.”
