Colonel John Patrick, Commander of US Space Forces Korea, visited the Commander Republic of Korea Fleet (COMROKFLT) on Wednesday to discuss maritime and space operations cooperation.

The COMROKFLT established a Space Operations Division in February 2024 and has since been dedicated to enhancing its maritime and space operations capabilities.

Patrick’s visit aimed to reinforce the collaboration between the two units, recognizing the growing importance of maritime and space operations and strengthening joint operational capabilities.

During his visit, Patrick first met with Vice Admiral Hwang Sun Woo, Commander of the ROK Navy Operations Command. He then discussed with Rear Admiral Lee Nam Gyu, Director of the Maritime Operations Headquarters, and other officials specializing in maritime and space operations.

The discussions focused on introducing each side’s maritime and space operations missions to enhance mutual understanding. The officials also deliberated on sector-specific collaboration in intelligence and operations, exchanging opinions on maximizing interoperability.

Rear Admiral Lee emphasized that joint operations between the South Korean Navy and US Space Forces Korea are essential, especially in conducting missions over vast maritime areas. He reaffirmed his commitment to close cooperation with US Space Forces Korea to further strengthen marine and space operational readiness.

Colonel Patrick stated that “Combined Joint All-Domain Operations” are the foundation for successful combat missions. He added that strengthening cooperation between the South Korean Navy and US Space Forces Korea will solidify the US-South Korea alliance and further reinforce the United Nations Command coalition.
