The Republic of Korea Armed Forces will conduct the 2025 Taegeuk Exercise from Monday, May 12, to Wednesday, May 14, under the leadership of the ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff. This command post exercise (CPX), led independently by the South Korean military, aims to strengthen crisis management capabilities in response to potential provocations by North Korea.
The exercise will be based on scenarios that simulate complex crises and gray-zone provocations across multiple domains—land, sea, air, and beyond—reflecting North Korea’s capabilities. The ROK military aims to enhance its response readiness through these realistic training scenarios.
In particular, the ROK military intends to use this exercise to review and improve existing response systems, emphasizing establishing a proactive posture and overwhelming capabilities to counter potential North Korean provocations.
